چکیده

Background & Objective: Epithelial-Mesenchymal transition (EMT) is known to be a possible mechanism in tumor progression; however, there insufficient evidence support the contribution of this process human cancers. The present study aimed evaluate expression EMT markers normal oral epithelium and squamous cell carcinoma also correlates with some clinicopathological parameters. Methods: This was conducted on 70 samples, including 20 cases 50 Oral Squamous Carcinoma (OSCC). To examine level these proteins, immunohistochemical staining performed for samples using E-cadherin N-cadherin monoclonal antibodies. Results: Reduced observed 74% OSCC 15% samples; difference statistically significant (P˂0.000). With progression SCC from well towards poor differentiation, decreased; not (P=0.642). Normal epithelial specimens were negative 75% cases, whereas showed high 46% (P=0.01). Although 62.5% poorly differentiated N-cadherin, between histopathological grades (P=0.586). No relationship found patient’s age, gender, location. Conclusion: that tissues phenotype (reduced N-cadherin) compared mucosa which may indicate key role during carcinogenesis.

The Level of Mesenchymal-Epithelial Transition Autophosphorylation is Correlated with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Migration

Background: The MET receptor is a critical member of cancer-associated RTKs and plays an important role in different biological activities, including differentiation, migration, and cell proliferation. Methods: In this study, novel MET inhibitors were introduced and applied on esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line KYSE-30, and the level of proliferation and migration, as well as the activated...

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Fascin in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Background and purpose: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the eighth most common cancer in men and the fifteenth in women. Localized recurrence and metastasis to regional lymph nodes are major problems in these patients. Fascin is a 55- kDa protein from the family of actin-binding proteins that is expressed in cells with membranous bronchial tubes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expre...

Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition and Inflammation in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) represents a large majority of cancers arising from the head and neck, especially the oral cavity. Despite advances in therapy, the five-year survival rate remains low due to the number of patients presenting advanced stages of the disease. The role of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in tumorigenesis in HNSCC remains unexplored. The current ...

Expression of CK8 and CK17, Specific Epithelial Markers, by Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cell Lines

Objectives Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is among the most common cancers worldwide. This study aimed to assess the expression of CK8 and CK17 by OSCC cell lines in Iranian patients. Methods This observational study was conducted on three OSCC cell lines with a minimum of 45 passages. Cells isolated from three patients with OSCC were cultured and passaged. Expression of CK8 and CK17 epi...

Comparing Immunohistochemical Expression of Podoplanin between Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Normal Oral Mucosa

Background and purpose: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the sixth most common cancer in the world. Podoplanin is a mucin-like integral membrane glycoprotein that is expressed in the lymphatic endothelial cells but not in the blood vascular endothelial cells. The aim of the present study was to investigate the immunohistochemical expression of podoplanin and evaluating lymphangiogenesis i...
